This new Royal Oak Concept Watch is designed by the family-owned watchmaker Audemars Piguet. Unfortunately it is not on sale. They say it took eight years to develop this time piece and much of this time was dedicated to research on the principles of stringed instruments, working with the EPFL , a craftsman who makes violins and other stringed instruments, a consultant from the Geneva Conservatoire, and a sound engineer. Their goal was to define some scientific parameters for the repeating mechanism so that the eventual sounds produced by the movement would be consistent, from one watch to the another.
